Global Warming

Global warming is the steady increase in the surface temperature of the earth over the past 100 years. It is expected that the main cause of global warming is from humans and the green house effect brought on by emissions carbon dioxide. The ozone layer is instrumental in reducing harmful radiation from the sun but it has become depleted due to the heavy use of industrial chemicals and refrigerants. Solar radiation reflecting from the earth remains trapped and are unable to escape from the build up of various types of gases in our atmosphere. Over the past 100 years the surface temperture of the planet has raised 1 degree farenheit and this may not seem like much, but that one degree fluctuation is enough to cause catastrophic damage like the melting of the polar ice caps, hurricanes, storms and heat waves that are thought to be a direct result of global warming. As we emit carbon dioxide from coal burning plants, vehicle exhausts and most importantly, architecture. Buildings require more energy than cars and to generate the power for air conditioning systems, lights and appliances power plants are working around the clock and emitting an enormous amount of carbon dioxide as their byproduct. It is too late to reverse the effects of global warming but we can be more energy conservative and slow down the process. Celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Al Gore and Leonardo Dicaprio have been very instrumental in educating us on this very real threat. They have put countless hours and money into providing information and resources towards creating a safer environment for us, our family and the human race. You don't have to be a famous actor or politician to play an important role. We can all do things that will help.
